2. Saunders Covered Bridge
Discover the charm of yesteryear in the Bob Saunders Family Bridge at Twin Pines Resort and Conference Center.

3. Oak Mountain Amphitheater
Each year between April and October, some of the world’s top musicians perform in this beautiful outdoor arena.

4. Cahaba River Wildlife Managment Area
Alabama’s wildlife managment area with 41,500 acres offers excellent opportunities for large and small game hunting.

5. Cahaba River
Alabama’s longest free flowing river supports 131 different species of fish-more than any river of comparable size in North America. It’s ideal for canoeing, fishing and exploring.

6. Lay Lake
This 12,000 acre lake has 289 miles of shoreline and has played host to the 1996 & 2002 Bass Masters Classic Tournament.

7. Shelby County Exhibition Center
These grounds are the site of such annual events as the Shelby County Fair, rodeos and various other events.
Location: Shelby County Hwy. 70, Columbiana

8. Shelby Iron Works
One of only two such mills exsisting in the South at the outbreak of the Civil War, this plant produced the armor that covered the hull of the famous Confederate gunboat “Tennesee.” The park features living history demonstrations and tours by request.

9. Old Town Helena
Helena was founded in 1877 on the banks of Buck Creek and named after a railroad worker’s wife. Today, Old Town Helena has an array of specialty shops filled with unique gifts housed in restored turn of the century buildings.

10. American Village
The American Village is a national pioneering civic education center consisting of 113 acres, featuring unique interactive living history experiences for all ages. The park is complete with various colonial buildings patterned after George Washington’s Mt. Vernon, the Bruton Parish Chapel of Williamsburg, a colonial courthouse and the Presidential Oval Office.
Hours: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; Tours begin on each hour; last tour begins at 3:00 p.m.
Fall/Spring Days: Monday-Friday.
Summer Days: Tuesday-Saturday.

11. Soccer Blast
A State-of-the-art indoor facility that features dual, full sized indoor fields in a fully climate controlled environment.

13. Pelham Civic Complex
Conveniently located next to Oak Mountain Amphitheater with easy access to I-65. The complex is perfect for conventions, sporting events, trade shows and includes two indoor ice skating rinks.

17. Aldrich Coal Mining Museum
This historic industrial attraction features coal mining memorabilia, vintage equipment and photographs of the town Aldrich at its coal-mining peak.

18. Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum
This Volunteer-operated museum has exhibits of the people and the equipment that made railroading critical to the region and the state. Board a train at the turn-of-the-century depot and view the scenic forests of Shelby County.

19. Shelby County Museum and Archives
This restored courthouse, c. 1854, holds treasures for genealogists and history buffs alike. The Shelby County Historical Society has additional information on other points of interest, including Shelby Springs Confederate Cemetery.

This museum houses one of the largest privately owned collections of George and Martha Washington memorabilia outside of Mt. Vernon.
